The AppNavi spring release 2023 makes room for many new things

Winter is coming to an end and over the years a lot of things often accumulate in the household. That’s why many people tend to spring-clean their homes to restore order for what’s to come and to feel good again.

This also applies to software developments. That’s why we’ve cleaned out, revamped and launched new functions. Today we present the most exciting new features.

The new update was released on 20.04.2023 in the AppNavi platform.

| New Features
Many new features have found their way into our Digital Adoption solution:

> New avatar design
We have completely redesigned the AppNavi avatar to further improve the user experience. In addition to implementing the new design, we added other aspects such as WCAG compatibility, which allows people with disabilities to use our product via keyboard input and voice output, and the use of high contrast mode. The position of the avatar can now be freely selected to prevent important application elements from being obscured. The Announcement dialog has also been made more user-friendly.

> Full text search in the avatar
The avatar search now includes the entire content in the search. If a route or article contains certain information that a user is looking for, the corresponding content is now suggested as a result. However, full-text search is currently only available for guest users and does not work for authors. The searches performed by a user are displayed in the portal to identify user support vulnerabilities.

> Multi-factor authentication
Optional multi-factor authentication allows authors to authenticate with a second factor (TOTP token). Any app that supports TOTP tokens can be used for this purpose. Since this feature helps to protect AppNavi from unauthorized access, we recommend enabling MFA at least for author users with tenant owner privileges.

> Code execution mode
To ensure maximum security and at the same time compatibility when executing custom code, the way custom code is executed can now be selected per application. The possible options are inline code execution and dynamic code execution with function statements.

> New dashboards in the portal
The new dashboards in the portal provide an even better overview of how AppNavi is used in applications. There is now a dashboard that provides cross-workstation analytics data. In addition, it is now even easier to get an overview of the applications used by AppNavi. The overview of used and open licenses has also become much easier.

| Improvements
Parallel to the new features we have further improved existing components:

> API functions extended
We have further extended the AppNavi Custom Code API. This means that there are now even more ways to integrate AppNavi with existing products via the API. The details can be found in the Custom Code API.

> Improvements in contract management
We’ve made managing contracts in AppNavi even easier. In addition to contract titles, there are now even simpler representations of consumption.

> Tooltip size “Auto
There is now another size setting for the “Auto” tooltip. With this size setting the height of the tooltip automatically adjusts to the content.

> Background settings for routes
It is now possible to set per step whether AppNavi should add a layer that covers the page and prevents the user from operating all elements of the page, or whether the page can be operated by the user in the background despite a running AppNavi route.

| Detached features
In the new product release we made room for new features and parted with some things. Mainly because one or two things have been made obsolete by new features or replaced by something completely new.

> Adding languages from Planner
We have removed language management from the Avatar Planner. Content languages can now only be managed through the portal. However, previewing languages in the Avatar Planner is still possible.

> XPath search
As announced with the last release, XPath search has been completely removed from the product. We recommend replacing XPath search with AI search.

> Post display settings
It is no longer possible to display posts in parallel as announcement and post. A display format (either post or announcement) must be selected. Posts created in the past with the “Post & Announcement” setting will now only be displayed as a post for compatibility reasons.

> Removed descriptions for routes and posts
With the next release in late summer, the description texts for routes and posts will be removed, as they will become obsolete due to the full text search.
